When the oil glands on your scalp work overtime, it results in oily hair and scalp. Eventually, your hair will feel greasy and lifeless. Reasons? Chemical-based shampoos most often stimulate the production of excess oil. So adding some natural products to your hair routine will only work in your favour.
Disclaimer: I am not a practicing aromatherapist but love incorporating essential oils into my daily life. The following is based on my own research and experience. Always consult with a professional practitioner before trying any aromatherapy recipe as different people can react differently to different oils. Never use more than 5 drops in any of the following blends.
Essential Oils For Oily Hair: Peppermint, Lavender, Lemon, Rosemary, Grapefruit, Juniper Berry, Cypress
Carrier Oils For Oily Hair: Coconut, Sweet Almond Oil, Grapeseed, Jojoba
Method & Dosage
Blend all the ingredients and mix well. Massage a small amount into the scalp in small circular motions. Apply the rest of the formula to your hair, covering the ends too. Leave the blend on for several hours or preferably overnight.
Next, rinse your hair thoroughly and apply conditioner as per your normal routine.
Repeat 2-3 times per week for best results.
Each of the following recipes makes 1 treatment.
Note: If your hair is longer and thicker, you can add more oil.

2 tablespoons jojoba oil
10 drops cypress
5 drops lemon
5 drops lavender
5 drops rosemary
Blend 2
2 tablespoons coconut oil
10 drops lemon
10 drops lavender
5 drops peppermint
Blend 3
2 tablespoons grapeseed oil
5 drops peppermint
5 drops lavender
5 drops cypress
5 drops juniper berry
5 drops lemon
Blend 4
2 tablespoons sweet almond oil
10 drops cypress
10 drops rosemary
5 drops grapefruit
