Lavender Body Oil Recipe
Shelf Life: 1-2 years
Equipment
Mason jar
Two glass jars for storage
Sanitized measuring cups
Measuring spoon
Cheesecloth or muslin
Funnel
Ingredients
Carrier oil of your choice
Dried lavender buds
Instructions:
1. Using a mortar and pestle, lightly crush dried lavender buds.
2. Fill the glass jar with the mixture.
3. Add sunflower oil (or any other carrier oil) and completely cover the buds.
4. Insert vitamin E capsules with a paring knife or fork tine.
5. Stir well using a stainless-steel spoon.
6. Add more carrier oil and fill up to the brim.
7. Store in a warm dark location for 4 to 6 weeks, and gently shake your jar every day.
Note: If you don't want to wait 4 to 6 weeks, you can heat the mixture in a double boiler to 100 to 120 degrees. Use a thermometer and make sure the temperature doesn't go above 120 degrees. Insert the funnel into the mouth of sanitized jars and strain the oil by using a funnel with cheesecloth. Wait for the mixture to cool before straining and storing.
