Cleaning, gardening, cooking and other chores can leave your hands dry and undernourished. And it's always important to give your body some undivided attention and TLC.
I love using peppermint essential oil because the scent immediately wakes me up and keeps me going throughout the day. The butter goes on smoothly and absorbs into your skin, leaving it soft and silky. It's easy to make and you can have a batch ready in no time.
Whipped Peppermint Body Butter Recipe
Makes about two 4-ounce jars
Equipment
Measuring cup
Pot or pan
Wooden chopstick
Hand mixer
Mason jars
Ingredients
1/4 cup coconut oil
1/2 cup Shea butter (or 1/4 cup Shea butter and 1/4 cup mango butter)
20 drops peppermint essential oil (or essential oil of your choice)
1/4 cup sweet almond oil
Several drops of Vitamin E oil
Instructions:
1. Add the coconut oil, almond oil and butter to a glass measuring cup.
2. Place the cup in a pot of simmering water over medium-low heat.
3. Use a wooden chopstick to stir until it's completely melted and clear.
4. Pour the mixture into a mixing bowl and let it slightly cool down.
5. You could put it in the freezer to speed things up.
6. Remember, when it becomes cloudy and just starts to solidify, it means it's cooled enough.
7. Once it has cooled, blend it with a hand mixer on a low speed.
8. Increase the speed until the 'butter' looks like whipped cream and forms stiff peaks. This may take a while.
9. At this stage, add the essential oil and Vitamin E oil and blend for another few seconds to combine.
10. Scrape the butter from the bowl and smooth it into 4-ounce mason jars to store.
11. Apply liberally as needed for a softer and smoother you!
